The Art of Gifting

’Tis the season of giving and gifting! Are you ready? Don’t worry if you’re not, help is on the way! Often, the stress of the holidays can overshadow the joy of gifting, but we want to encourage you to take a little extra time on those nearest and dearest to make their holiday extra bright. After all, it’s the most wonderful time of the year to go (a little) over the top. So here, we’re sharing our favorite tips to elevate your gift-giving game.

  1. Clever Add-Ons

Let’s be honest, sometimes more is better. Including a little something extra that compliments the main gift is a fun way to create lots of excitement for little cost. Giving a candle? Add a wick trimmer, matches or a USB rechargeable lighter. Thinking about a charcuterie board? Pair it with your favorite cheese or a box of honeycomb from your local grocer. Bringing a bottle of wine to a party? Wrap it up in a tea towel or tie a bundle of mulling spices around the neck with a recipe for mulled wine. Just remember, a small addition can make a big impact.

  2. Gorgeous Gift Wrap

From wrapping and ribbon to bags and bows, packaging your present can sometimes cost almost as much as what’s inside! The good news is you don’t need to spend much to make your gift look beautiful. Our go-to gift wrap is natural kraft wrapping paper with bakers twine, which you can find at your local craft store. Add a simple embellishment like a sprig of seasonal greenery or fresh herbs—we like pepperberry or rosemary—and in the flashiest of flashes your gift will be #gramworthy.

HOW TO TIE THE PERFECT BOW

Ever wonder why your bows always end up at a perfect diagonal every time, no matter how hard you try?
Follow these simple steps and yours will be perfectly straight:

1. Tie a basic knot
2. Take the end that is pointing downward and create a loop
3. Take the other end (the one pointing upward) and wrap itaround the front of the first loop
4. Pull the loop behind the front loop, through the back
5. Pull both loops taught and adjust the size as needed
6. Trim both ends at an angle at your desired length

3. A Personal Touch

Gifts are great on their own, but there’s nothing more thoughtful you can add to a gift than a handwritten note. Especially in the tech-centric world we live in, putting pen to paper to write a heartfelt message is truly the best gift of all. At a loss for words? You don’t have to be a Shakespearean poet to make it meaningful—simply write a line expressing what you love about the recipient or recount your favorite holiday memory that the two of you share. If sending a gift online, share the same sentiment in the enclosure card. It only takes an extra minute or two to make the person on the other end feel extra special.
